Laetoli is a well-known palaeontological locality in northern Tanzania whose outstanding record includes the earliest hominin footprints in the world (3.66 million years old), attributed to Australopithecus afarensis. New hominin tracks were unearthed at Laetoli Site S in 2015 and studied by a Italian-Tanzanian research team.
