The Newell's Nook locality of Montana is one of the few fruit and seed assemblages described from the Paleocene of North America. Likely early Tiffanian in age, this site is known for its rich vertebrate fossil record, which co-occur with the paleobotanical material presented here. The site includes members of modern day families, including Sabiaceae, Menispermaceae, Juglandaceae, and Vitaceae, alongside other unique taxa with uncertain affinities. Study of localities like Newell's Nook will help us create a more complete picture of Paleocene life.
