Annie Gautier-Hion's collection Project ID: 000386225 Public
68 Media · 21 Specimens · Managed by: Renaud Lebrun

These specimens were collected between 1964 and 1966 by the anthropologist Annie Gautier-Hion in Gabon. All the adults specimens were shot by poachers. The few juveniles are orphans, which Annie Gautier-Hion kept captive along with her husband for observation purposes; unfortunately, they died from Yersiniosis in 1965. This collection comprises 21 crania, 11 of which have associated mandibles. 20 specimens belong to the subspecies Gorilla gorilla gorilla, and 1 is a Pan troglodytes. Annie entrusted these crania to her colleague Dr Damien Caillaud ( https://anthropology.ucdavis.edu/people/caillaud ), and these specimens are currently temporarily curated by Dr Michel Raymond at the ISEM ( https://isem-evolution.fr/membre/raymond/ ) .
