This is part of a research project for Lindsay Waldrop and Nicholas Hebdon at Chapman University, investigating the influence of cranial morphology on the olfactory capabilities in C. familiaris. To explore the bounds of the morphospace I will be using geometric morphometrics on the 3D models created of the requested specimens to define the most prominent morphological features of the system. These parameters will then be used to develop a theoretical morphotypes that will be integrated into Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations to investigate how air and smells move, retain, and entrench in the olfactory turbinates.
