The integrated digital human forearm and hand Project ID: 00000C419 Public
45 Media · 1 Specimen · Managed by: Jan Palfijn Anatomy Lab KU Leuven

DESCRIPTION

We are creating an integrated anatomical dataset on which complete and accurate musculoskeletal models of the hand can be based.

This dataset will include: 3D STL models of bone, cartilage and muscles (including muscle pathways). Additionaly, of the same specimen we have physiological muscle parameters (fiber lenght, sacromer lenght, muscle volume, tendon lenght, etc). We plan to upload the 3D STLs and DICOMs of the 7T MRI and high resolution CT scans. Futhermore we can provided detailed photo's of the confocal microscopy and step-wise dissection performed to obtain the physiological muscle parameters. Our study provides an integrated anatomical dataset on which complete and accurate musculoskeletal models of the hand can be based.

By creating a 3D digital human forearm, including all relevant anatomical parameters, a more realistic musculoskeletal model can be created. Furthermore, open access to the anatomical dataset makes it possible for other researchers to use these data in the development of a musculoskeletal model of the hand.
